Welcome to Sanso Tōda,
a retreat center in the mountains of Fukuoka, Japan.

Sanso Tōda is a 230-year-old community center undergoing a full renovation beginning in April 2025. Our vision is to preserve the historical Japanese architecture while offering amenities designed for world-class guest stays and retreats, all in harmony with the surrounding natural beauty.

Our opening is planned in stages:

• April – June 2025: Parking lot open for hikers and nature lovers.

• July – August 2025: Summer outdoor café offering shaved ice, cold drinks, iced coffee, and seasonal favorites.

• September 2025: Weekly yoga and meditation classes begin in the Grand Dojo.

• October 2025: Indoor wellness-themed restaurant and café opening — seating up to 70 guests.

• April 2026: Ryokan grand opening for overnight stays.

• May 1–5, 2026: Our first full retreat.
