Welcome to Sanso Tōda,
a retreat center in the mountains of Fukuoka, Japan.

Sanso Tōda is a 230-year-old community center undergoing a full renovation in 2025 and early 2026. Our vision is to preserve the historical Japanese architecture while offering amenities designed for world-class guest stays and retreats, all in harmony with the surrounding natural beauty.

Our opening is planned in the following stages, subject to change:

• April – June 2025: Parking lot open for hikers and nature lovers (COMPLETE).

• July – August 2025: Summer outdoor café offering shaved ice, cold drinks, and select goods (COMPLETE).

• Spring 2026: Weekly yoga and meditation classes begin in the Grand Dojo.

• Spring 2026 Indoor wellness-themed restaurant and café opening — seating up to 70 guests.

• Summer 2026: Ryokan grand opening for overnight stays.

• Fall 2026: Our first multi-day retreat, facilitated by Roy.
